If you are a Strike Anywhere fan and dont already have Chorus of One, i recommend getting this. One of my favorite bands of all time. I think it was great to release those older songs on an official basis. I love this cd and this band Crimes of Passion that you should check out on myspace.
They're all good. The first two tracks are both quite good, Asleep in particular. Not really deviating from what you'd expect from this band, but not bad. The Chorus of One EP is phenomenal. Both of my favorite tracks by Strike Anywhere are on this. The covers are a lot more subpar than the rest of the CD. Some Notes On Pulling The Sky Down - Strike Anywhere - To Live In Discontent them are recorded at very low quality, and the rest suffer from just plan bad songwriting.
I like this CD a lot. In my opinion that is probably the Ciceros Brahms Symphony - Eugen Cicero Trio - Romantic Cine Jazz song on this CD.
The new version of Chorus of One is good, but I prefer the old one. The Gorilla Biscuits cover is sweet. I first heard Strike Anywhere on the Rock Against Bush comp, and the title of this release alone is a heartening sign that someone is still fighting in the wake of the failed election. This is one of those things that can be accurately judged by their covers. It's explosive as bottled nitroglycerin, with all the energy needed to throw an SUV through the window of your nearest Wal-Mart.
As a singles Notes On Pulling The Sky Down - Strike Anywhere - To Live In Discontent rarities collection, though, it shines particularly brightly. The band decided to put it together with only two full albums under their belts, and the curtailed length adds much to its power. Strike Anywhere's characteristic screamo and melodic muscle are here in full force, though a full studio album is the best way to show those elements off.
A nice collection of shiz from this band. Lots of hooks on this CD. I assumed that "Exit English" Saints And Sinners - Whitesnake - The Very Best Of Whitesnake be their best CD because, like most bands, they would get better with time.
That CD was my introduction to the band. This CD is a compilation of old songs, b-sides etc It shows that this band Notes On Pulling The Sky Down - Strike Anywhere - To Live In Discontent consistent and has always been solid. Definitely recommended.

Format: Audio CD. So, while this is only a CD of b-sides and what not, I would have to say this CD is almost as good as most of their regular releases and better than a certain one ahem Exit Englishfor one reason and one reason only. Let's face it, Strike Anywhere is a band that consistantly brings insightful lyrics, melodies, catchy guitars, and the occasional bass-line, on every CD.
This one has it, Irish Republican Army - Willie Brady - Irish Songs of Freedom boy will it take you for a ride.
The guitars are fast, the drumming is ruthless, Thomas is screaming a lot more often than he is singing, and while he does sing, that raw sound of the hardcore battlecry is much more appreciated, at least by me, on a Strike Anywhere CD, so that's a plus.
Some of these songs appear to be quite old, judging by the poor sound quality on a few of the songs towards the end of the CD, but it reminds me of the crappy sound quality that my band deals with when we Notes On Pulling The Sky Down - Strike Anywhere - To Live In Discontentso why not hear that from these guys too on songs like "Sunspotting" One other thing that brings this CD out is that they have a few songs that aren't all about the working class or the downtrodden and government's impact on the aformentioned working class and downtrodden.
While that will never get old, change is always welcome, and it's was really cool, at least for me, to listen to "Two Sides" for the first time, which is definitely the best song on the CD, and think to myself, "Wow, this can relate to anyone, not just the antidisestablishmentarianists, for once I don't feel like Thomas is a million IQ points smarter than me, he is an actual guy. Once those are in your CD collection, it's between this and Exit English, and I'm leaning towards this 'cause let's face it, Exit English was kinda boring Notes On Pulling The Sky Down - Strike Anywhere - To Live In Discontent monotone.
One person found this helpful. Not to be a bickering contrarian, but this isn't merely a collection of B-sides as stated by the 2 previous reviews! It's actually the bands demo, which was later released as their first ep, and some covers and compilation tracks.
