The album consists of mono and stereo versions of all cuts. The musicianship Twenty Yards Behind - Dr. Feelgood - Down By The Jetty is top notch with Lee Brilleaux's vocals simply outstanding, as is his great harmonica. Wilko Johnson's guitar is sooo good with his unique style dominating this disc. The Big Figure's drums and John B.
Sparks bass provide a super strong Twenty Yards Behind - Dr. Feelgood - Down By The Jetty to this music. These guys were simply one of the great British band's of Twenty Yards Behind - Dr. Feelgood - Down By The Jetty era taking a back seat to no one. The mono side of this disc is beautifully recorded here as is the stereo.
A big plus comes with a number of extra cuts which are slightly different on each of the discs. The live cuts are clear and well recorded. It's a shame that these guys seem to be a backstory in late '70s British rock they deserve to be placed in the pantheon of great British bands. This disc is a much treasured part of my collection and it should be in any serious music collectors possession.
Just straightforward Rock n Roll! Mono version sounds great!! Great Rock n Roll from a band I hadn't heard about until recently. Feelgood's version. Like the entire album, it did not disappoint. For one thing, this recording was done in the late 70's. Assuming audio technology was improved compared to the 50's and 60's, mono probably sounded better my opinion than it would in stereo. This album will be timeless.
It is straight-forward R n R with fairly good vocals and really good instrumentation. Well produced Get it while you can Format: Vinyl Verified Purchase. The vinyl was apparently in a place with heat or maybe came out of the factory, so I did the album with a ripple on average, is audible but tends to want to jump the barb of the turntable. I only discovered these guys a few years ago after seeing the "Oil City Confidential" documentary, but man, am I glad I did! They rocked the blues like few others at a time when disco and punk were two "hot" genres.
Terrific album! One person found this helpful. Came as expected, thanks! Great album from a great band. For anyone who likes the Jam or any early punk should for sure check it out. Had heard of Dr Feelgood but knew nothing of their music. Loved their primitive but catchy songs and Wilco Johnsons unique guitar style. Album lived up to my expectations -great 'driving' music which definitely wakes me up Various - V.A. puts me in an upbeat mood.
Standout tracks are 'She does Ballad Of The Blue And Grey - Lefty Frizzell - His Life - His Music right' and 'Roxette' but really like the more bluesy numbers as well.
Just discovering this group and this is a fantastic selection of their work! It arrived quickly and the sound quality is great. Doctor Feelgood Good Good Good Oh Yeah! Format: Audio CD. Wilko chose this apt name for his new rockin' band - and a kick ass British rhythm 'n' blues legend was born. It was deliberately recorded and issued in MONO. The A-side opens Side 1 of the album. All 23 tracks on Disc 2 are Previously Unreleased.

While the group's stripped-down, energetic sound paved the way for English punk rock in the late '70s, their back-to-basics style was overshadowed by the dominance of punk and new wave, and the group had retreated to cult status by the early '80s.
By the end ofDr. Feelgood's dynamic live act had made them the most popular group on the pub-rock circuit, and several labels were interested in signing them. They settled for United Artists, and they released their debut album, Down by the Jetty, in According to legend, Down By the Jetty was recorded in mono and consisted almost entirely of first takes.
